Meet Sakshi N. Ashokan, Bright Babyhood’s Parent of the Month for August 2012:

BB: Describe yourself in 3 words.

SNA: Enthusiastic, creative and of course a mother.

BB: Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

SNA: I have always loved to dance. Dancing, for me, is fun and at the same time peaceful. It gives me happiness.

BB: What is one of your happiest memories with your daughter?

SNA: I think most of mothers would agree that the most happiest moment for a mother is when her child learns to walk. That’s when you know she has taken her first step towards independence.

BB: What do you love most about being a mother?

SNA: Knowing that, like every mother, I too have the most beautiful child in the world and that I am the most important person for her.

BB: In your opinion, what qualities should a good mother possess?

SNA: Love, patience and the ability to multitask.

BB: What is your favorite children’s product?

SNA: My daughter, Ria loves it when we read the ‘My First Picture Dictionary’ book together. The other day we were watching Ice Age, where she saw a Piranha and immediately said “Mamma, piranha”. I was so proud. The book has helped in increasing her vocabulary.

BB: What are your hopes and dreams for your daughter

SNA: When my daughter grows up she should look into the mirror and say to herself “you are perfect, and I love you just the way you are.” I want her to be confident about herself and dream for her own self. My best wishes and support will always be with her.

BB: Do you have any advice for new mothers?

SNA: When a butterfly struggles its way out of a cocoon, its wings become strong so it can eventually fly. In the same way, give your children freedom to fight their own battles and learn from their mistakes. It will make them strong. Yet, always be by their side.
