An infant swing can be a blessing to help soothe a fussy baby and to help babies fall asleep. Baby swings are even known to calm colicky babies.
However, there are a lot of unsafe and ineffective baby swings in the market. Therefore, it is advisable to consider the following factors to picking the perfect swing for your baby.
- Safety: Try to get a swing with 5 point harness system for maximum safety
- Recline positions: Newborns have limited truncal control. Therefore, it is important to get a swing that has specific positions for newborns, as you don’t want your baby to slouch forward get a neck sprain
- Speed settings:It is advisable to get a swing with variable speed settings so you can set the swing to your baby’s preference. Some babies like being rocked gently while some like vigorous rocking
- Sound settings: If your baby gets soothed by music, get a swing with various types of music settings and volume e control
- Swing motor: Motors of some swings make really loud sounds, when they are turned on. Try to get a swing that makes minimal sounds while rocking.
- Portability: A portable swing can easily be moved around the house or carried, with you, if you are visiting someone. This way you can get more use out of the swing.
